LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY 2018
Updated April 17, 2018

The 2018 Session of the Indiana General Assembly that concluded March 14 was one of the busiest ones in memory for IAMFT as there was considerable focus on access to mental health services and treatment for addiction and substance abuse. A number of bills were not only introduced but passed that directly impact the practice of MFTs.

IAMFT was extremely active in promoting and securing the provisions in these bills that create more access to MFT services.

Read about bills impacting the practice of MFT's in our state by downloading a copy of the legislative summary linked below.

  • BENEFITS OF IAMFT MEMBERSHIP

    • CONTINUING EDUCATION:
IAMFT provides at least conferences per year with trainings focused on theory, clinical application, and ethics. CE’s apply to members and other behavioral health professionals.
    • ADVOCACY
Provide a lobbyist who is regularly at the statehouse monitoring legislation that could impact our license here in Indiana.  Advocacy is key to help us sustain both the quality and availability of mental health services for Hoosiers.  It also supports the continuance of high clinical and ethical standards for the profession.
    • NETWORKING:
One of the greatest benefits is the opportunity to network with other MFTs for support and accountability.
    • LEADERSHIP:
Numerous leadership opportunities are available to serve on the Board as a Region Representative, Member at Large, Officer or Committee.
